The workshop

The workshop opened on Windward Road in 2015. Four benches, four people, and about nine hundred pieces a year.

Every hide comes from one tannery and is vegetable-tanned, which means it darkens rather than cracks and takes a repair without showing it. Brass hardware, because plated steel fails at the buckle and cannot be replaced without damaging the leather around it.

We do not run seasons. A piece stays in the range until it stops selling or we cannot get the hide for it, and the two we discontinued are both still repaired.

We make eleven things and we have discontinued two in ten years. There is no autumn collection.

Our repair promise

A stitched edge fails before the leather does, usually somewhere between year six and year ten. Bring back anything we made and it is restitched for a published fee, for as long as we are here. If a piece is wrong when it arrives, we take it back.
